The Golden Slipper has a really unique character, and with three distinct and individual rooms, we like to think that we have something to offer everyone.

We have a large racing following amongst our regulars and are often the choice of pub for people on York race meeting days. We have a TV in the lounge which we have found is very popular for viewing sport, particularly the racing, all of which adds to the relaxed environment at the Golden Slipper. It has even been know for people to visit York for race days and spend the day watching the races on the TV at the Slipper.

	We have all the amenities you would expect from your local including darts board, juke box and fruit machine.
	We are proud of our record for cleanliness and hope that visitors will appreciate the effort we put into keeping the pub clean and presentable.
	Extractor fans help to reduce any smoke in the atmosphere, which is all the more important since we do welcome families.

	It is our ethos to welcome children only when they are accompanied by a well behaved adult! We have a highchair and are soon to have changing facilities in the toilets. We also have a range of games for children to play whilst at the pub including Connect 4, chess and snakes & ladders.
	Other games for use by customers include dominos and of course darts to use with the dart board.
	We are a very social pub and have a variety of team activities. We have 2 darts teams who play on a Sunday, a dominos team and a men's darts team on a Monday, 2 ladies darts teams on a Tuesday and another men's darts team on a Thursday evening.

	We have in-house caterers who provide only the very best of traditional English cuisine in hearty portions. Our current menu is available on this web site. Daily Specials can range from anything from sirloin steak to liver & onions. There is always a vegetarian special available.

		We have York's original 'Yardon', a delightful backyard beer garden for use during the warmer weather. The Yardon has a patio heater to take off the chill if needed.
		We would be delighted to cater for parties and we do have a small function room for private hire. We are very flexible and should you want to arrange for a group to visit the pub during our less busy hours, we will certainly accommodate you, for example for informal drinks and a celebration after a wedding at the Registry Office (which is just a 5 minute walk away).
		We have a welcoming gas stove which will make you feel right at home during those long winter months.
